For many small business owners term CPA is known to mean Certified Public Accountant, however when it comes to Internet, probably even starting marketer knows CPA stands for Cost Per Action or Cost Per Acquisition.</p>
<p>So what is CPA in the world of Internet Marketing? They say it started in Adult industry many years ago, but in todays advertisement industry CPA becomes more and more popular with many big brands and corporations as one of the most effective ways to attract new customers, survey market needs and sell products and services.</p>
<p>There are advertisers and publishers in CPA model.  Companies having products or services to offer are advertisers and they pay publishers for personal information about customers or prospects. How in the world would publishers get this information? Well,  the task of a publisher is to get some sort of form to fill to as many people as possible. If you happened to use Yahoo and MSN search engines you probably noticed very nice banners trying to offer you something interesting or even intriguing. When someone clicks on that banner she or he will be presented a form to fill, the form can be short or quite long and ask for only for zip code or e-mail up to all personal details including credit card information in exchange for some gift, possibility to win the gift or freebie or to try the product or service at discounted price or free for initial period. You get the idea probably. Instead of running expensive TV, radio or big board advertisement or in addition to those old known methodes companies are collecting personal information of people who demonstrated particular interest in the products or services of the advertiser. More information is collected about the prospect more money will be paid to the publisher. Today CPA offers are run by consumer brand companies, insuarance companies, even B2B businesses and many others. As there are thousends of CPA offers, there are companies which act as networks hosting those offers, their business is to attract both advertisers and publishers providing high quality leads for the first and profitable offers to publish for the latter. Billions of dollars are paid by advertisers to the publishers with a very nice cut to CPA networks, so running CPA offers became separate independent field of on-line marketing. Thousands of affiliates or publishers making pretty good living by running CPA offers on their sites, with pay per click or just buying media on-line.
